at the midpoint

somewhere between actually working and actually resting. this blog is for stuff about ball-jointed dolls and other artwork, with smatterings of science and literature. Also, anthropogenic climate disruption is a real thing.

I am also a big fan of 19th century European sculpture. This photo is also from our 2008 Paris trip.
"The First Secret Confided to Venus" is in the Louvre. It is not a popular piece and it is off in a corner at the end of the wing, but the natural light in those rooms is very good. I was actually on my way to the Barye room, but she completely captured me. Isn’t she wonderful? This piece was exhibited in the Salon of 1839 by François Jouffroy before it was acquired for the royal collection.
